February 19th is Day of Remembrance. DoR is where we stop to remember the impact of Executive Order 9066 — the mass forced removal and incarceration of approximately 120,000 men, women, and children during WWII. Our friends at the Wing Luke Museum complied a list of events for us all. See our calendar and events page to view the PDF.
As we celebrate our community’s continued vitality and honor all of our survival experiences, Tadaima leaves you with a quote from author, poet, lecturer, and over-all amazing person, Audre Lorde:
“and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid
So it is better to speak
remembering
we were never meant to survive”
― Audre Lorde, The Black Unicorn: Poems
